South Oxfordshire District Council commissioned studio | REAL in 2007 to revise their design guide, originally published in 2000. The principal aim of the revision was to update the guide and present a better balance between the objectives of retaining the character of South Oxfordshire and delivering sustainable development.
The guide is aimed at both developers and home owners and includes guidance at different scales, from masterplans down to small-scale measures that can be taken forward by home owners.
As a collaborative effort, studio | REAL worked closely with South Oxfordshire’s team to produce the final document. A significant part of the project, undertaken by studio | REAL’s in-house design team, was to make it easier to read the guide and find information.
