Proposals for a new neighbourhood and 2 Megawatt wind turbine submitted by studio | REAL and Hives Planning aim to integrate renewable energy and new development just north of Aylesbury in the parish of Quarrendon. The scheme includes 1,380 dwellings, a local centre, primary school, playing fields and a visitor centre for the nearby Scheduled Ancient Monument.
The new neighbourhood works together with the nearby approved developments at Berryfields and Weedon Hill to make the most of the committed Western Link Road and newly completed Aylesbury Vale Parkway Station.
The proposal also goes a significant way in realising the aim of creating a Countryside Access Gateway at Quarrendon Leas as projected in the Buckinghamshire Green Infrastructure Strategy. In addition to the visitor centre, a new riverside walk through wildlife grassland, a park, orchard and woodland as well as additional footpath links improve access to both the Quarrendon site and the countryside.
