studio | REAL were commissioned by West Berkshire County Council to undertake the Newbury Market Place project as part of the wider regeneration strategy Newbury Vision 2025.
The market square has been redesigned to meet current needs and new paving has been laid across the area from Mansion House Street to Wharf Street and semi-mature trees have been planted. New public seating and decorative lighting have been installed. The Market Place is now a 20 mph zone. The re-instated Thursday and Saturday markets now enjoy a new layout, with power supplies from cables hidden underground improving facilities for market traders.
