Coventry City Council invited studio | REAL to participate in an ideas competition for the design of three key city spaces, which represented three different but essential characteristics of the city centre. The Practice collaborated with landscape architects Eachus Huckson in the analysis of the urban context of the city centre and the formulation of ideas for each of the squares.
Individually and together, the spaces are an opportunity to raise the urban quality of the city centre, reflecting Coventry’s unique historic roots. The proposals comprised three contrasting but complementary spaces, each reflecting a different urban function to provide areas for lively shopping activity, civic formality and quiet contemplation.
