WINSLOW GREEN, BUCKINGHAMSHIRE

Sustainable settlement

studio | REAL were commissioned to design a masterplan for a sustainable settlement of 3,300 homes as an adjacent, complementary settlement to the market town of Winslow in Buckinghamshire.

The plan provides for a new railway station on the planned Oxford to Cambridge re-opened rail line, 68,000 m² of employment fl oorspace, schools, community facilities and 120 hectares of green infrastructure. The proposals were submitted in support of a bid for eco-town status.

Continuous appraisal of sustainability factors were undertaken using our Resource Model. The model measures social, economic and environmental performance against a range of goals established at the outset of a project. It seeks to make best use of local resources, maximise effi ciency, build local capacity, reduce dependence on external resources and increase multi-functionality, re-use and recycling of outputs.
