Creating good city form

We were commissioned by Oxford City Council to evaluate the south-western quarter of the city centre, known as the 'West End', and create a comprehensive, flexible and achievable urban design framework to guide future development.

Our strategy advocated a series of measures ranging from the physical development of policies in the local plan, the use of supplementary planning documents and delivery proposals, including partnership arrangements, to tackle some of the projects identified.

The urban design framework is able to co-ordinate future development proposals within a long-term vision. Design briefs covering major sites in the study area were produced to inform future planning applications, County Council road proposals and also consultations between the City Council and prospective developers of key sites.
