Roger Evans is an architect, urban planner and urban designer. He has directed urban studies at city wide and site development scales including town, district and local centres, town expansions and new settlements. After working in both the public and private sectors in the UK and overseas, he established the Practice in 1992 to develop research and consultancy services in urban design.
He is a past Chair of the Urban Design Group and has taught as a visiting lecturer on urban design at several UK university courses. He has sat on advisory panels to government, written extensively in the professional press on urban design issues and sits on several local authority design review panels. Roger is an Academician of the Academy of Urbanism and a Trustee of the Urban Design Group.
Roger has led major urban design studies for a wide range of historic, new and emerging towns and cities throughout the UK and also in Europe and the Middle East. He led the research and writing of the new Urban Design Compendium 2 (UDC2) for what is now the Homes and Communities Agency.
